A FEW OF THE SPECIALTY CLASSES HELD AT WILLOW GLEN

Spend a week enjoying the world’s most popular sport in a fun, recreational environment. Learn and practice soccer skills including: dribbling, passing, receiving, shooting and defense. Everyone is a winner as the week’s fun culminates in an age-appropriate “World Cup” tournament. All campers will receive a soccer ball and soccer jersey.

This multi-sport program was developed to give 4 to 7 year-olds a positive first step into athletics.  Soccer, Baseball & Basketball are taught in a safe, structured environment filled with encouragement and fun. Through games and activities, campers explore balance, hand/eye coordination, and skill development at their own pace.  All participants receive a ball, t-shirt and a merit award.

CAMP! CAMP! CAMP! CAMP!

The Willow Glen Community Center provides an array of fun  camps for children. At Camp San Jose your child gets an unforgettable, traditional summer camp experience for under $5 an hour! Your child will be playing crazy games, sports, creating cool arts & crafts projects, singing funny songs and embarking on a weekly, entertaining field trip. Our price includes a low leader to child ratio-1:10, field trips, one Camp San Jose shirt for the summer, skill building, new friendships, disguised learning and much more! Campers need to bring water and sunscreen everyday. Check with your local community center for a complete list of field trips, lunch programs, scholarships and payment plan! Extended care from 3:00-6:00pm available for an additional cost.

The Leadership Development Program is designed for 11-13 year olds who want to prepare for their role as a future camp leader and to meet with others with the same interest. Working closely with Recreation Staff, they will learn all aspects of camp and what it takes to become an inspiring and memorable camp leader. Camp will bring a sense of pride in helping others, as well as teen development, character & team building and a whole lot of fun! The registration fee includes supervision, admission fees, supplies & equipment, training materials and if trips are planned, transportation (via San José City vehicles, City Transit, or Charter Bus). The participant must provide spending money for trips and bring their own lunch. A certificate of completion will be given out at the end of the session.

The Willow Glen Neighborhood Association (WGNA) was formed in 1973 by concerned citizens of Willow Glen who volunteered to represent citizens on issues of neighborhood enhancement and preservation. The WGNA focuses its efforts on matters such as land use, planning, traffic, safety, open space, parks, and recreation.  Read about the history of WGNA, and a statistical breakdown of member interests. All this can be accomplished in our stress-free environment where children also make new friends through the magic of theatre. *Rehearsal schedules and performance dates are posted 2-3 weeks into program.
