The Willow Glen Neighborhood Association (WGNA) was formed in 1973 by concerned citizens of Willow Glen who volunteered to represent citizens on issues of neighborhood enhancement and preservation. The WGNA focuses its efforts on matters such as land use, planning, traffic, safety, open space, parks, and recreation.  Read about the history of WGNA, and a statistical breakdown of member interests. Did you know the City of San José Department of Parks, Recreation and Neighborhood Services partners with Santa Clara County and Bateman to provide

nutritious meals to active adults age 60+?

 

Lunch is served in a fun and safe environment where you can socialize with friends every weekday for a suggested donation of $3.00. ($6.00 for persons under age 60)

 

LUNCH:  entrée, side dish, vegetable, fruit, salad, milk. Or choose from: Vegetarian or Meat - Salad or Sandwich

Facility Rentals

 

Willow Glen Community Center is located in the heart of Willow Glen in San José, Ca. We offer four (4) rooms for your rental facility needs with plenty of parking, in a delightful neighborhood with various boutiques and businesses in the surrounding area.

The Multi-Purpose Room is our largest room. It has a capacity of up to 150 people in a dining set-up, and 330 people in an assembly set-up. It has a sound system, and projector screen which are available to the renter for small additional fee. This room is recommended for wedding ceremonies & receptions, baptisms, birthday parties, anniversaries and fundraising events for your organization.

$100.00—Flat Fee Warming Kitchen (must be used in conjunction with a rental)

 

The other three rooms are our classrooms.  They have the dimensions of 30’ x 40’ and fit a capacity of 40 people. These rooms are recommended for meetings and/or smaller group gatherings.

 

· APPLICATION FEE $60

 

· Cleaning & Damage Deposit fee will be refunded as long as there is not any damage to the facility and equipment AND it is cleaned in an satisfactory manner.

QUESTIONS & ANSWERS

 

· How do I rent the facility?

Please call (408) 448-6400 to make an appointment with rental coordinator. At the time of the appointment, a facility tour, policies, procedures and a rental application will be provided. All rentals must be made in person.

 

· How far in advance can I rent?

The facility may be reserved up to a year in advance. We recommend to reserve as soon as possible to ensure that the date and room are available. Full payment is required for reservations made within sixty (60) days of event.  We accept cash, check, and credit card.

 

· Can I have alcohol at my event?

Beer, wine, champagne & sake are allowed at the following sites: Almaden, Almaden Winery, Bascom, Berryessa, Camden, Cypress, Evergreen, Gardner, Hank Lopez, Leininger, Mayfair,Northside, Okayama Room, Roosevelt, Southside, Seven Trees and Willow Glen. At least one (1) SJPD officer is mandatory for all rentals that serve alcohol. Any rentals that intend to serve alcohol will pay an additional cleaning and deposit fee of $500.00 per application

SJPD reserves the right to request more police officers, depending on the type of rental event.

 

· How long can my event run?

All rentals must end by 10:00 pm. Clean-up must be completed by 11:00 pm.

 

· What happens if I go over my contract time?

If you go past the scheduled time on your contract, you will be charged twice the hourly rate and the staffing fee.

Outdoor Fun

Sailing and Paddle Boats

Lake Cunningham Regional Park offers several summer sailing programs. These programs teach new sailors the basics of small boat handling and offer sailors with some experience the chance to sharpen their skills and learn more. Sailing camps run Monday through Friday with both basic and intermediate camps.

Pre-registration is now open for the sailing classes. Cost is $100 for each class or camp. For ages 12 and up.

Paddle Boats may also be rented from Lake Cunningham and Lake Almaden.

Fishing

An Amply Stocked Lake
Lake Cunningham is stocked with rainbow trout, large mouth bass, channel catfish and an assortment of sun fish. There is no charge for fishing; however, all
California Fishing Laws apply. Fishing licensees are required for all persons 16 years of age older. Please, no live bait except for worms.

Skating and Bike Parks

In recognition of the growing skateboarding community, the City of San José is home to six public skate parks, including California's largest skate park, Lake Cunningham Regional Skate Park.

At 68,000 square feet, Lake Cunningham Regional Skate Park (LCRSP) is the largest skate park in California. Featuring the world's largest cradle, tallest vert wall, and largest full pipe, LCRSP offers a wide variety of terrain for all skill levels.

Most items are handcrafted by the sellers. Shop from an array of jewelry, home decor, baby items, aprons, kitchen items and many more unique one of a kinds gifts!   Are you a crafter? Booths are available while supplies last. A six foot table with a chair is $33 for non-members and $25 for members. There are a few 10x10 spaces for $50.00 Please stop by the front office at the Willow Glen Community Center to register and receive a list of guidelines. Invite your friends and family.

Santa and his elves won't be the only one spreading the holiday cheer, Willow Glen Community Center is designated as one of Santa’s ELF Helper Centers!  Do your shopping while your children enjoy exploring Mrs. Claus’ Kitchen where they will decorate holiday treats, complete holiday crafts they can give as gift and get into the groove with dancing to holiday tunes. Children will also get to learn the meaning of the holidays when they decorate a special holiday card for those in need. Please sign your children up early this is a popular event! Only $20.00 per child for 4 hours!
